Does Strong Hold Gel contain proteins?
No. This natural hair gel focuses on holding your texture and adding extra hold.
Is the Strong Hold Gel according to the Curly Girl Method?
Yes, our gel meets the requirements of the Curly Girl Method. It is safe for all hair textures.
Is the strong hold gel suitable for every hair type?
Yes, this gel provides extra hold with every style and forms a hold that reduces frizz when diffusing or air-drying. The texture you scrunch into wet hair is held firmly once your hair is dry.
Type 1: Straight hair– No curls with this type. This hair type can be activated and create a natural, casual look if you style it according to our tutorials.
Type 2: Wavy hair– A beautiful balance between straight and curly, with S-shaped waves that range from subtle to pronounced.
Type 3: Curly hair– Well-defined curls, often in a spiral shape.
Type 4: Coily hair– Kinky hair with a tight texture and small curl patterns. It is often somewhat drier and more fragile.
How much gel do I need?
You need less of the Strong Hold Gel than of the Defining Gel.
Guidelines:
Less hair: a blueberry
Normal density: 1 grape
Lots of hair: 2 small grapes
If your hair still looks wet after scrunching, you've used too much gel.
What is a curl cast and what does it do?
Hair gel can form a hard gel crust, a so-called "curl cast." This "curl cast" ensures that your curls dry in shape, giving them better definition and reducing the chance of frizz. Once the curls are dry, the gel can easily be scrunched or scrunched away.
Our Strong Hold Gel forms a very firm "curl cast." Unlike our Defining Gel, which leaves a very light curl cast and tends to define patterns, the Strong Hold Gel holds those patterns securely with a firm cast.
Will this Strong Hold Gel leave my curls feeling stiff and sticky?
We understand your concerns, but rest assured: our hair gel is specially formulated to leave your curls feeling soft and comfortable, without residue, stickiness, or stiffness. Simply wait until it's completely dry and then you can squeeze the gel crust (cast) from your hair. You'll notice a natural, bouncy look emerges after squeezing out the cast. Having trouble removing the cast completely? Use the praying hands method from our tutorial. This technique makes removing the cast a breeze.
Will this gel weigh down my curls?
No, the Strong Hold Gel focuses on hold and creating a cast that's easy to remove. This hair gel doesn't contain any heavy-duty ingredients.
How often do you use the Strong Hold Gel?
We recommend reusing this natural hair gel after every wash. The more often you activate your texture, the more defined it will become.
Do I need to rinse the gel afterwards?
No, you apply the Strong Hold Gel last in your hair routine. So you don't rinse it out. You wait until your hair is completely dry and then you scrunch (or squeeze) it loose.
Can I comb my hair when using the gel?
Some curly girls and boys find it helpful to distribute the gel evenly with a wide-toothed comb, while others prefer to simply use their hands. Both options are possible, but once you've distributed and scrunched the gel, let your hair dry without combing it. Otherwise, you'll break the curl cast and end up with a frizzy mess (and you don't want that, do you? 😉).
Do I also use other styling products in combination with the Strong Hold Gel?
Our Defining Gel is the ideal gel to use in conjunction with our Strong Hold Gel. The Defining Gel brings out your texture, while the Strong Hold Gel locks it in.
Are you a frizzy type or do you want to give your roots extra volume? Then apply the Defining Gel under the Strong Hold Gel. The Defining Gel can be applied all the way to the roots thanks to its lightness. This is not the case with the Strong Hold Gel.
Can I apply the hair gel to my scalp?
No, it's best not to apply the Strong Hold Gel any higher than 2cm from your scalp. Otherwise, the gel can suppress your volume. You can apply the Defining Gel all the way to your roots. Therefore, it's ideal to use the Defining Gel first if you experience a lot of frizz at your roots.
I am a man, can I also use this gel as a styling gel?
Of course you can! Just keep in mind that this gel won't give the same results as hair wax.
Will this hair gel leave product flakes in my hair?
No, if the gel is used correctly, this will not happen.
If you use too much product or haven't distributed it properly, the buildup may flake off in some areas, but after shaking it loose, the flakes will disappear.
Can I use this product if I am pregnant?
This product is safe to use during pregnancy.
