Are there proteins in the Purifying Shampoo?
No, the Purifying Shampoo does not contain proteins. The formula is intentionally kept light and purifying so the scalp is thoroughly cleansed without weighing the hair down.
How much Purifying Shampoo do I need?
You usually need less of a natural, concentrated product than of a synthetic shampoo. However, it is still important to use enough Purifying Shampoo to properly cleanse the scalp.
We recommend washing your hair twice.
During the first wash, distribute the Purifying Shampoo evenly across your entire scalp. Apply it with your fingertips to different sections and gently start massaging. If you notice the product is not evenly distributed, add a small extra amount of shampoo. Lathering is not necessary during the first wash. Adding a bit of water can help the shampoo spread more easily.
Rinse and repeat the process a second time. Usually, two pumps of Purifying Shampoo are sufficient. Since excess sebum has already been removed, you will notice the shampoo lathers more easily during this second wash. This second cleanse ensures your scalp feels truly clean and removes any product build-up.
Guidelines:
Less hair: 2–3 pumps
Medium density: 3–4 pumps
Thick hair: 4–5 pumps
How often should I wash my hair with the Purifying Shampoo?
Use the Purifying Shampoo whenever your scalp feels oily or starts to itch. Shampoo is primarily a cleanser for the scalp and is only needed when sebum or build-up is present.
Many people wash their hair mainly to restyle it. In that case, you can still shower and follow your routine, but skip the shampoo step and go straight to conditioner.
Frequency varies per person. Your scalp may, for example, become oilier in the week before your menstrual cycle or during stressful periods when you tend to touch your hair more often.
On average, most people wash their hair 1–2 times per week. When using the Purifying Shampoo, it can help restore scalp balance, which may reduce how often you need to wash over time.
Is the Purifying Shampoo suitable for every scalp?
The Purifying Shampoo is developed for an imbalanced or oilier scalp and is ideal when you experience sebum build-up, flakes, or a heavy feeling on the scalp.
The goal of a shampoo is to thoroughly cleanse the scalp without disrupting its natural balance. The Purifying Shampoo does this with mild cleansers that purify effectively without being harsh.
For some scalp types, another variant from our range may be more suitable:
Very dry or sensitive scalp: choose our Nourishing Shampoo
Sensitive to essential oils: choose the Unscented Shampoo
If you switch from a conventional shampoo with harsh surfactants or strong fragrance, your scalp may initially feel slightly unbalanced. Give it around two months to adjust to a milder, more natural formula.
Is the Purifying Shampoo suitable for every hair type?
A shampoo should primarily be chosen based on your scalp, not your hair type.
The Purifying Shampoo cleanses and balances the scalp. The conditioner is then chosen based on your hair needs (e.g. dry, damaged, or curly).
Claims such as “shampoo for split ends” or “shampoo for dry hair” are mostly marketing. A shampoo cleans the scalp — hair care is mainly done with conditioners and masks.
Is the Purifying Shampoo Curly Girl approved?
Yes, the Purifying Shampoo is compatible with the Curly Girl Method. The formula contains no sulfates, silicones, or other ingredients that can weigh down or dry out curls.
Can I use the Purifying Shampoo on colored hair?
Yes, the Purifying Shampoo is safe to use on colored hair. The mild cleansers cleanse the scalp without aggressively stripping the hair.
Is the Purifying Shampoo suitable for grey hair?
Yes, the Purifying Shampoo is also suitable for grey hair. The formula gently cleanses and helps remove product build-up without weighing the hair down.
How long does one bottle of Purifying Shampoo last?
The Purifying Shampoo is concentrated, so you only need a small amount per wash.
If you wash your hair about twice a week, one bottle typically lasts for 20–25 washes, which equals roughly three months of use. If you wash only once a week, a bottle can last up to six months.
Can I use the Purifying Shampoo during pregnancy?
Yes, the Purifying Shampoo can safely be used during pregnancy.
