How long does a bottle last?
Our shampoo lasts a long time! If you wash your hair twice a week, you can get about 20 to 25 washes from one bottle - that's enough for about three months. In fact, if you wash your hair only once a week, the shampoo can last up to six months.
How often should I wash my hair?
This is a frequently asked question. The answer is: only if your scalp feels greasy or itchy. Many people wash their hair to redo their styling. If you want to do that without an oily scalp, we recommend following your normal shower routine, but skipping the shampoo part. Go straight to the conditioner. Shampoo is a cleanser that is only needed if your scalp is dirty or greasy. The frequency varies per person and may vary. For example, the week before your period your scalp may be oilier, or during stressful periods you may touch your hair more, which also makes your scalp oilier.
So, if your scalp is oily or itchy, use shampoo. If you want to shower, but your scalp is not greasy, just use conditioner and rinse.
On average, you wash your hair 1 to 2 times a week. If you wash it more often, you may have an oily scalp. Our Mellon shampoo can help you restore the balance, meaning you may have to wash your hair less often over time.
Is the shampoo suitable for every scalp?
Our shampoo is suitable for most people, with the exception of those with scalp problems.
The main purpose of a shampoo is to cleanse the scalp without disrupting its natural balance. It should be mild but effective. Both too much sebum and too aggressive cleaning can cause problems. We are proud that our shampoo offers this perfect balance in cleansing!
Although our shampoo is compatible with most scalp types, it does not solve scalp problems. We did experience positive results with people who have flakes, especially in combination with our oil.
There are some exceptions where our shampoo may not be successful, and for which we will create a separate line:
Extremely dry: If your scalp is extremely dry (such as with psoriasis), our cleansing may be too intense. We will soon develop a shampoo that cleanses extremely mildly.
Seborrheic: If you have a very oily scalp with crusts and eczema patches, our shampoo may be too mild. You'll need something sturdier, as long as it doesn't clean aggressively. We will also soon develop an option for this.
Allergy to essential oils: If you are sensitive to essential oils, our future shampoo without scented oils is probably more suitable. You can always try it, because every oil reacts differently.
Please note: If you switch from a synthetic shampoo, you may recognize yourself in one of the three exceptions, but the cause of your complaint is probably the aggressive cleaner or perfume in your current product. We always recommend starting with a natural product first, waiting two months and then assessing the real condition of your scalp. Give it a try!
Is the shampoo suitable for every hair type?
Eye opener! You do not choose shampoo based on your hair type but based on your scalp (see previous question). You clean and choose a shampoo based on your skin. You choose a conditioner based on your hair type. So you can safely ignore the claims of “shampoo for split ends” or “shampoo for dry hair” ;-) “Natural shampoo” or “Shampoo for a dry scalp” is accurate.
