Why embrace your natural texture?
If you grew up in the 2000s, you know it all too well. Curls were anything but "cool" back then . Think of all those makeover movies where the "nerdy" girl with wild curls was only truly seen after her hair was blow-dried and smoothed. Curls? That was something to tame , hide, or "have professionally done."

Thankfully, times are finally changing. Thank you, Gen Z, for the inclusivity boost. Wavy, curly, and kinky hair are all welcome . They're celebrated on catwalks, social media, and in everyday life. And rightly so!
Yet, many people still feel a barrier to truly embracing their natural texture . Years of "your hair looks so much neater when it's flat " still linger. But at Mellon , we encourage you to get to know your hair as it naturally is.
Because your hair deserves care and love, without wanting to change it. And just like a good friend, we're there for you . Not just with products , but also with advice , a word of encouragement , and a pat on the back when you're feeling a little lost.
Your texture is unique. And with the right care, your hair not only feels better, it also becomes easier to work with. No harsh ingredients , no unnecessary fuss . Just products that do what they're supposed to, tailored to your natural locks.
Step by step we discover your unique curls
Okay, enough chitchat. Time to dive in and explore your natural locks!
To make it easy for you, we've conveniently bundled all the products listed below. This way, you don't have to search for everything separately and can get started on your texture journey right away. As a bonus, you get a 5% discount on the bundle, just because we like to make things easy for you .
1. Discover the movement in your hair
When you step out of the shower with your hair wet , do you sometimes notice a slight wave in your hair? Doesn't your hair fall perfectly straight? Well, good news! Because that means there's room for curls to grow.
2. The final wash to free your curls.
Did you know that your beautiful waves or curls are often hidden under a layer of old products? Many classic hair products contain silicones, mineral oils, and other synthetics that build up on your hair and scalp . The result? Your natural texture is literally buried under residues that don't belong there.
In the world of curls and the well-known Curly Girl Method, you often hear the term "final wash." This is a one-time, deep-cleansing wash with a "special" shampoo that supposedly removes all that buildup .
But is that such a good idea?
A final wash like this usually contains harsh sulfates . These definitely do their job, removing dirt and buildup. But they also strip away your natural oils , which are essential for keeping your hair and scalp balanced.
That's why at Mellon, we choose a gentle yet powerful alternative: green clay . Our Detox Sidekick cleanses your hair and scalp thoroughly yet gently, respects your skin's balance, and removes built-up residue from synthetic products. But most importantly, it restores your natural texture .
Our Mellon Clay Mask gives your hair the reset it deserves. Gentle, natural, and effective.
How to use it
Use the clay mask at least once a month as a gentle but thorough detox. It helps keep your scalp clean and gives your curls or waves room to breathe and do what they naturally want: be bouncy.
One jar contains an average of 5 to 6 servings , depending on your hair thickness and length. So use a generous amount to create a truly opaque, full-coverage product.
Apply the mask to wet hair and a damp scalp. This allows the clay to spread better and prevents it from drying out.
Note: Do not use metal spoons or bowls. Metal can interfere with the clay's performance. Choose wood, ceramic, or plastic instead.

3. The basic routine for every curly girl
A good shampoo and conditioner? They 're essential for every hair type . Yes, you read that right! Even people with straight hair need a good shampoo and conditioner.
The curly girl method often involves a co-wash , washing your hair and scalp with a specially developed conditioner, without shampoo So. On paper, that sounds great, but in practice, it doesn't work for everyone . Especially with wavy hair or soft curls, a co-wash can be too mild to truly cleanse effectively.
That's why we at Mellon developed a natural shampoo that's curly-girl-friendly , without sulfates or other harsh chemicals, yet gentle and effective. This leaves your scalp feeling fresh and your hair feeling clean , without drying it out.
And then conditioner . Believe it or not, some people still skip it (say what!?) . Conditioner is definitely a necessity . It helps seal your hair cuticles after washing, making your hair shinier , less tangly , and better at retaining all those wonderful nutrients. Your hair feels softer and healthier.
How to use it
Distribute the shampoo over your scalp and massage it in thoroughly with your fingertips . Rinse thoroughly and repeat . The second application really makes a difference. You'll immediately notice a lot more lather. You don't need to apply the shampoo to the lengths ; they'll naturally cleanse when you rinse them out.
Next, it's time for conditioner. Apply to the lengths and ends , not the scalp , and leave in for at least two minutes . Then, take a wide-toothed comb and work from the bottom up to thoroughly comb through everything. This seals the cuticle and helps leave your hair smooth and shiny.
4. Time to grow curls
Yes, you really can grow curls. And we're happy to help. As a beginner , I have one golden tip: take your time with each step . The better you master the techniques and steps, the better the results. And once you've achieved that result, you can always simplify your routine a bit. Invest some time first, then experiment!
Our advice? Go for the whole shabang . That way, almost nothing can go wrong. Use both of our gels at first, so you can see for yourself whether you prefer one or a combination of the two. You'll also need three basic tools: a styling brush , a spray bottle , and a diffuser .
How to use it
Start with wet hair, preferably soaking wet . First, apply the Defining Gel from root to tip. This will control frizz and activate your texture . Comb your hair away from your head in sections with the styling brush to enhance curl definition.
Then, take a small amount of Strong Hold Gel , spread it between your palms, and apply it to the lengths and ends. Use a scrunching motion, ensuring your hair is thoroughly saturated with water and product. Do you hear a squishing sound ? Perfect, that's what you want.
Use a diffuser (definitely recommended for wavy hair) to dry your hair with minimal frizz and maximum definition and volume . Once your hair is completely dry , scrunch out the cast for a soft, defined finish.

Let your hair down .

Success!

Beste,
Graag jullie visie, mening.
Alvast erg bedankt.
